Macd Scalping Strategy with tweaks
« on: June 27, 2015, 05:10:34 PM »
Hi Guys I've added a few tweaks that works great for me on the Macd Scalping Strategy using range bars. My range bars are set to 15 pips on a 1 min TF. Second I change the Macd settings to 9,26,9. Thirdly I've added a 14,3,3 stochastic indicator for direction as well as visual . Also the Ema is 8. By using 15 pip bars my stop is a little bigger (25-30 pips) but it seems to run a little further as well (50-60 pips)I aim for 2:1 unless the Macd reverses, then I get out before it hits my stop. As long as Macd does not cross back I stay in until I hit PT. Depending on your aggressiveness you can enter on the cross of stochastic and exit with 2:1 or stay in till Macd starts to come together. Most of the time I take the Stochastic cross as entry. One last thing I'm always aware of the main trend direction. Trade with the trend.
Good Luck to all. Its simple and thats the way I like things.

VERY COOL..thanks again for sharing...I`ll try and post a pic asap to show your changes so folks can see what the chart looks like...feel free to do the same if you wish.
Any favourite pairs you watch more than others?

My preferred pairs are USD/CAD, AUD/USD, NZD/USD, they seem to swing smoother from top to bottom, bottom to top and their atr's are wide enough to make it work. But again I trade with the trend and I usually keep a 1 hr or 4 hr candlestick chart open along side, just for trend direction. I do look at all the major pairs. I will post a screen shot soon. I'm retired now from a great career therefore I have time to look at charts, so as soon as I enter a trade I start searching for my next trade on different charts. One thing I failed to mention I never trade the news.

I went back to the USD/CAD I have open with the 55 and 110 and they were running through price instead above or below. What I do is use the 8 Ema and if I'm right price will be above or below in the direction of trend.

Our Charts may look a little different because I use FXCM market scope charts. I like the simplicity of the charts and most indicators are readily available.

Ohh ok...and they have range charts included..that's great! MT4 ya gotta use a funky ea or script...still works but an added step or two to set it up.
Here is the same trade on a/u with just the 8ema...great stuff...wait for price to cross and close below 8ema to enter along with stoch...correct?

Looks great I take the trade when the bar closes below the 8 Ema, obviously reverse for long trade. If you add a longer Ema for trend id that would work as well. I look forward to reading the post, some good stuff here. And thanks for your you tube vid on scalping with macd. Hope this helps. Need anything let me know.Always willing to share. A great looking setup on  that chart.
