I'm "backtesting" the YM with GPFD1985s' tweaks, and WOW.

Hey Piper when you get some back testing data  I would like to see the results. I have not back tested my self so I would be curious to see. Hope it checks out

GPFD1985 I'm just doing a visual backtest, shows TONS of promise...I can play with it all wknd, nothing else going on. I'd be happy to give you
what I find.
I'm trying to keep my stops tight, don't wanna risk 20 to make 10.

Do ya'll have a rule like "Take the Entry the 2nd time a bar closes below/above the 8 SMA IF the MACD is showing above/below the Zero line or somesuch?!?!
Some rules of thumb would be nice lest I wind up thumbless. haha
Thanks!
Piper

Seems the Stoch outdoes the MACD in every "Cross" we're looking for. Your mileage may vary, but I'm about to just do this with the 8 SMA
and the Stoch 3-14-3. Here's an example on the YM.
The Yellow lines show a Stoch already crossed with the fast Stoch line where it needs to be to support an Entry corresponding with a Price Bar Close above/below the 8 SMA. The Purple line shows a Stoch Cross preceeding  Price closing Below the 8 SMA, resulting in a perfect Short.

I only take the trade on the close of the bar,and the bar must close blow the 8 Ema. I have taken trades on the cross of the stochastic before the bar closes below the 8 Ema and it has come back to bite me and take out my stop. The Macd cross is confirmation I'm right, and it also gives me the entry off the pullback if I miss the first entry from the stochastic. Also Macd gives me the staying power to gain extra pips. As long as macd does not cross over I stay in to hit PT but I do get out if it crosses. As for as a smaller stop loss goes, you can set it up anyway you want. I take the extra risk because my range bars are set at 15 and I'm gaining more when I'm right, I'm looking to gain 30 plus cost. I'm from Texas as well, Waco. Have a good day. Thank the Guy for this simple system, all I did was add my personal tweaks. One last thing, I have tested this on stocks, futures, etc. and it works quite well but it may need to be adjusted to your preferences.

Looks like you are using Ninja...are you able to code an auto backtest...or will you be doing it manually?

THE GUY, I'm doing it manually, not smart enough to code, HA!
GPFD1985, not arguing here, but I won't be taking Stoch crosses all by their little lonesome self. Waco? Go Bears-Go Lions! :)
Questions;for you guys who've traded this LIVE
RE: the Indicators we're using,  is the Stoch and the 8 SMA going to be at the exact SAME point on my chart in REAL TIME as they are in Backtesting?? (not sure I phrased that correctly) I guess they'd have to be or all of this would be a shot in the dark.
At this speed of Mkt entry, do we shoot for Limit Orders or just smash the Mkt Buy button when Price and Indicators line up for our entry??
Any info would be most helpful and most appreciated.

Here's an 8-21 Friday chart at the open of the Mkt, Yellow Vertical Lines denote Entry, on the YM with 4 entries, either or all of which would make my day to say the least. :)
Very thankful I fell in with ya'll, and thankful for THE GUY's Youtube posting of this method.
Am I doing this right?
Is it THIS easy to make $$ in the Mkt?

If you haven't already go to July 27th post and screen shot by The Guy on homemade systems, it shows a perfect example. And no it's not easy. If so we'd all be wealthy
